Intel Technology Experience Zones to Bring Access to Inspiration at @BestBuy
While most (79%) of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, half are frustrated by the lack of access to them beyond what they read or see in the media, according to a new study by Intel and Toluna. That’s the reason why Intel and Best Buy are now teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S. The Intel Technology Experience lets customers – from tech enthusiasts to technophobes – play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they have only heard about. Averaging 240 square feet, the Intel Technology Experience shows customers the power of Intel: the technology behind these new, innovative activities is the same power behind the devices like tablets and laptops we love and rely on every day.
I had the chance to travel to a Best Buy Store in Lafayette, Indiana and meet an employee that has experience in the Intel Experience Zone. The staff greeted me at the door with smiling faces and very friendly. I told explained to them why I was there and they called Ed to come up and get me. Ed was a very nice gentlemen. He came up shook my hand and introduced himself to me. He then took me back to the Intel Experience Zone. Ed was very knowledgeable about the Intel Technology Experience and what each Intel Product entailed. He first introduced to me the Silicon Wafer. The Silicon Wafer is huge. This silicon wafer has hundred of Intel Processors and can contain up to 420 transistors. These processors are powerful and there are so many possibilities with Intel.
Ed took me over to what is called the Cube. With the Cube 3D Printer, customers can build and print their own 3D robot, belts, bracelets, Smartphone cases, little baskets and more. I was really impressed! You will see some of the items that were on display that were made with this Cube. Who would think that you can make your own products just from inputting the colors and styles of what you want and then it prints out on this cube? This is awesome!!
Next then Ed took me over to the Mars station.
You can show off your racing skills on Mars in an augmented reality world. Ed played and raced to show me how the Mars station worked. When you aim the device at the Mars Pod, it will show icons or trucks to race on the track of Mars. It was really cool and this is great for gamers.
Next Ed and I went over to the Master beats and remix tracks by Ne-Yo as a digital DJ. The power of this is endless. You can program for lights and beats from the laptop to the screen. Ed even sent to me the DJ experience on my smart phone and I was able to come home and replay it for my family to see. I thought that was pretty cool myself!
After checking all those cool stations out within the Intel Experience Station Ed and I stepped on over to check out the latest PC and tablet devices powered by Intel processors. They had a few there to choose from in different sizes to fit each persons needs. They had some tablets that you can also take the keyboard off and use onscreen keyboard instead of a regular keyboard. They also had a device I really am looking to get. It in the picture below to the far right.. Now this thing is cool.. Its huge and the keyboard is not attached. You can also set the screen down and use as a HUGE tablet as well.. I am looking to get this next on my list for sure.
