The 2013 ESSENCE Festival Fan Favorite Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) begins at 9:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on 4/24/13 and ends at 11:59 PM ET on 5/22/13 (“Sweepstakes Entry Period”).

ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia, age 21 or older at time of entry. Void in Alaska, Hawaii and where prohibited by law. Employees of Essence Festival Productions (the “Sponsor”), Coca-Cola Company, Facebook, Twitter, their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, presenting companies, advertising and promotion agencies and members of their immediate families (parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses) and same households of each, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, local laws and regulations.

HOW TO ENTER: There are two ways to enter: Method #1: To enter online, visit www.essence.com/festivalfan or http://www.facebook.com/essencefest and follow all onscreen instructions to complete the online Entry Form in its entirety and click the submit button to enter the Sweepstakes (“Primary Entry”). You must “Like” the Essence Magazine Facebook brand page in order to enter the Sweepstakes via http://www.facebook.com/essencefest. If you already “Liked” the Essence Magazine Facebook brand page, please click on the Sweepstakes tab and follow all onscreen instructions to complete your entry. You will have an opportunity to earn an additional entry per day (“Additional Entry”) when your friends/relatives enter the Sweepstakes via the links shown on your Facebook wall or Twitter message after you posted or invited your friends from the Facebook or Twitter icons provided in Method #1. Limit: One (1) Primary Entry and one (1) Additional Entry per person/email address per day regardless if a person has more than one email address or if more than one person shares the same email address. All entries received for any individual over the maximum entry limit as specified above will not be entered into the Sweepstakes drawing. For the purposes of these Official Rules, in order to qualify for the Additional Entry (i) your friends/relatives must be 21 years of age or older and are legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia at the time they are entering this Sweepstakes; and (ii) the name and email address can only be entered once during the Sweepstakes Entry Period regardless if he/she receives more than one invite. Only complete and valid entries as determined by the Sponsor and/or its Judges will be eligible into the Sweepstakes drawing. Use of any automated, robotic, repetitive, programmed or similar entry methods or agents to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Entrants subject to all notices posted online including but not limited to Sponsor’s privacy policy. Online entries must be received by 11:59 PM ET on 5/22/13. Method #2: To enter via U.S. mail, hand print your name and address on a postcard and mail to: The 2013 ESSENCE Festival Fan Favorite Sweepstakes, c/o: Essence Magazine, 1 Penn Plaza Ste 6126, New York, NY 10020. Mail-in entries must be postmarked between 4/24/13 and 5/22/13 and received by 5/29/13. You can enter via mail as many times as you wish, however, each postcard entry must be mailed separately. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, illegible, garbled, inaccurate, invalid, mutilated, misdirected, undelivered, delayed or postage due mail/entries. No photocopied or mechanically reproduced, altered or incomplete entries will be accepted. All entries, regardless of entry method, become the Sponsor’s property and will not be returned or acknowledged.

PRIZE AND ITS APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (“ARV”): One (1) Grand Prize: A 5 day/4 nights trip for winner and one (1) guest to attend the Essence Music Festival (“Event”) in New Orleans, LA (ARV: $4,663.00). Actual value of trip depends on location of winner’s primary residence and fares at time of travel. If actual value of the trip is lower than ARV stated herein, the difference will not be awarded in cash. Prize consists of: round trip coach airfare for winner and one (1) guest to/from closest commercial airport nearest to winner’s primary residence (or ground transportation if winner reside within a 100 mile radius of New Orleans); double-occupancy standard hotel accommodations for four (4) nights plus two (2) tickets for each day of the Event (admissions to Empowerment and Festival) for a total of three (3) nights (six (6) tickets total) plus two (2) VIP passes for the Festival weekend. Selection of seats is at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. All meals, ground transportation (other than as noted), taxes, gratuities, incidentals, upgrades, service charges, insurance or other expenses not specified herein are not included and are the winner’s sole responsibility. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received, estimated at 1:8,727.

Winner and guest must travel on dates specified by Sponsor or forfeit all rights to the trip. All prize details are at Sponsor‘s sole discretion. Winner and guest must travel together on the same itinerary including same departure and return dates. Travel arrangements must be made through Sponsor’s agent on an airline carrier of Sponsor’s choice. Winner and guest must comply with any security procedure or measures imposed by the Sponsor, and/or Event coordinator(s) and/or representatives who reserve the right in their sole discretion to suspend or cancel the participation of winner and/or her guest due to non-compliance with any security procedure or inappropriate behavior or misconduct. If the Event is postponed, canceled, or has occurred, no compensation or substitution will be provided and the Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the winner (and guest) other than to supply the remaining portion of trip. Should this be the case, trip must be taken within twelve (12) months from the date of prize notification. If for any reason whatsoever, winner is unable to travel after all travel arrangements have been made and paid, the Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the winner. If Grand Prize is forfeited prior to Sponsor finalizing and paying for any portion of prize, and there is sufficient time to notify an alternate winner, the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a separate random drawing from among all non-winning eligible entries. Winner and guest are responsible for obtaining the proper travel documentation (e.g., valid photo ID) prior to travel. Winner’s guest must be twenty one (21) years of age or older and will be required to sign and return a notarized Liability Release and (where legal) Publicity Release prior to the issuance of travel documents.

RANDOM DRAWING & WINNER NOTIFICATION: Potential winner (“winner”) will be selected on or about 6/3/13 in a random drawing from all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Entry Period under supervision of an independent judging organization (“judges”) whose decisions are final. Winner will be notified by mail and will be required to complete and return a notarized Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and where permissible, a Publicity Release (“Affidavit/Release”), within seven (7) days of date specified on notification, or an alternate winner will be selected. If Affidavit/Release is returned as undeliverable or if the selected winner cannot accept or receive the prize for any reason, or he/she is not in compliance with these Official Rules, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected in a separate random drawing. Prize awarded within 30 days after receipt and verification of completed Affidavit/Release. Prize is not redeemable for cash. Prize is non-assignable or transferable. No substitution is permitted except if prize is unavailable, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. Any other incidental expenses on prize not specified herein are the winner’s sole responsibility. Winner is responsible for all federal, state, local and income taxes associated with winning prize and will be required to furnish his/her social security number for the sole purpose of preparation of any tax forms as required by law. Except where prohibited by law, entry and acceptance of prize constitute permission to use winner’s name, prize won, hometown, likeness, video tape, photographs, and statements for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity (including online posting) in any and all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification or permission.
